Artisan and industrial bakeries have the opportunity to win the trophy Bread of the Year at GastroPan 2016
The 8th edition of the most important event dedicated to professional baking and cooking technologies in Romania, GastroPan, will take place April, 7-9, in the Transylvanian city of Targu Mures.
Expo GastroPan will reunite all professional on the fields of milling, bakery, confectionery and HoReCa. Suppliers have already occupied more than 90 per cent of the available booths and are already preparing numerous demo shows, workshops, launching and tasting of various products.
Artisan bakers, specialists ready to impress consumers with innovative tastes, gifted pastry chefs, cake-decorating artists and chefs with many daring ideas will enter the GastroPan competitions.The GastroPan contests, to which more than 200 bakers, pastry chefs and chefs all over from Romania are expected to enter, represents a major attracting factor for visitors, offering an important opportunity for specialists activating in the field to present their talents.
3 competition sections, 8 categories and tens of awards
This year GastroPan Competitions are divided into eight categories, which are grouped in three main competition sections. Both artisan and industrial bakeries will have the opportunity to win the trophy of the Bread of the Year 2016, as this prize will be divided this year into two different categories, according to the quantity of bread produced daily and the method of bread production – artisan or industrial. The Bakery-Pastry competition section offers two more competition categories in which contestants can present the best pastry products made of shortbread dough, as well as the most amazing artistic pieces made of bread dough.
Numerous pastry chefs, artists and cake decorators from all around Romania will compete in the Confectionery competition section. In order to win the Cake of the Year 2016 contestants will have to come up with new and original tastes, creative and tasty creations inspiring from the Romanian culinary traditions. The Sugar Paste Artistic Piece category has a rich and interesting theme this year – Carnival, which lets contestants show off their creativity.
Bread of the Year 2016
This year for winning the „Bread of the Year 2016” prize the organizers are giving equal chances for both artisan and industrial bakeries, dividing this category into two subcategories according to technological process and daily quantity of producing bread. In this way valuing the smaller producers’ talents and the industrial producers’ investment in research and development are both possible.
Cake of the Year 2016
The Confectionery section within these competitions is one of the most disputed ones, to which numerous pastry chefs, cake-decorating artists from all around Romania are expected to enter. In order to win the „Cake of the Year 2016” trophy contestants have to come up with original, creative and delicious tastes developed by themselves, and inspiring from the Romanian culinary tradition. On the other hand, the Sugar Paste Artistic Piece category is returning with a new, rich and interesting theme – Carnival, giving the possibility to contestants to explore their creativity and fantasy.
