The Craft Bakers Association in the UK (CBA) announces that Colin Lomax has accepted the nomination of president elect and will be installed as the association’s 130th president at the CBA conference in June 2018.
Lomax says he is very proud to be a baker; starting his baking career after leaving school at the age of 15, he began to learn the trade at Greenhalghs and then Hampsons bakery in the Bolton area.
Part-time day release at Bolton College added to his growing skills and knowledge. He held various management positions in Hovis, but maintained contact with the baking process. He has helped maintain the Hovis competitions and supported a Hovis scholarship to identify potential young stars of the future. Lomax is Past Chairman of the British Society of Baking (BSB) and president of the Alliance of Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST). He says: “the CBA has always been a driving force in the industry and I am very honored to be asked to be president elect.”
