dsm-firmenich has begun construction of a new state-of-the-art production facility in Parma, Italy, set to boost its global capabilities in flavours and functional blends. The facility is scheduled for completion in Q1 2027 and will create over 100 new jobs.
The site will enhance dsm-firmenich’s capacity in concentrated powder flavours, reaction flavours, culinary and functional blends – with applications in sweet goods, savoury products, and plant-based offerings. It represents a major step in the company’s strategy to expand its Taste, Texture & Health (TTH) business through cutting-edge, sustainable technologies.
Located in Italy’s “Parma Food Valley”, the new facility will incorporate next-generation encapsulation technology and fully automated packaging lines. It will also include a modern warehouse, sampling and quality control lab, and serve markets across Europe, India and the Middle East.
“Our investment in another Parma site reflects our commitment to anticipating demand and scaling our operations sustainably,” said Maurizio Clementi, EVP Taste at dsm-firmenich. “This facility will allow us to respond faster and more flexibly to the needs of high-growth regions.”
The Parma location also benefits from its proximity to Campus Italy, a hub for innovation in taste and texture, enabling synergies across dsm-firmenich’s expertise in flavours, plant proteins, and food ingredients.
“Parma offers a unique mix of food industry tradition and future talent,” said Albert Plans, SVP Operations, Taste. “It’s the perfect base for expanding our team, driving innovation, and supporting our customers more effectively.”
The investment underlines dsm-firmenich’s long-term commitment to sustainable, scalable flavour solutions tailored to evolving market needs.
