General Mills announced the closing of New Albany facility

General Mills announced it has reached a final decision to close its manufacturing facility in New Albany, Indiana, USA. 

The decision will be effective mid-year in calendar 2016.

On January 8, General Mills announced a preliminary decision to close its New Albany facility, subject to negotiation with union officials. Those negotiations are now complete, and the company said it will begin the review of necessary processes and steps to transition and consolidate manufacturing at other facilities within the General Mills supply chain.  
The closure will impact approximately 400 employees. General Mills said it will provide severance and transition benefits to all affected employees.

General Mills has operated in New Albany since 1959. The plant primarily manufactures refrigerated baked goods.
