Meurens Natural Expands with Second Plant Opening

Ingredient specialist Meurens Natural announced it has opened a new plant site located in the Plenesses industrial estate at Thimister-Clermont. The Belgium facility represeants an investment of EUR15m for the producer of the known Sipal brand.

The company’s historic Herve production site had become overloaded, with the company’s development over the past years, which led Meurens to build the second production site. The new site’s total surface area extends over 28.000 sqm, with a 6.500 sqm building.

This project was completed in record time, with the first productions successfully coming off the line 12 months after the start of the construction work, according the statement issued by Meurens Natural.

“The project’s ecological approach has enabled numerous energy savings to be made in the consumption of gas, water and electricity,” the press statement reads. The company currently has two production sites and three production lines.

Active on the European organic and natural markets, the company exports 70% of its annual turnover.

Meurens Natural processes cereals and dried fruits into organic and natural ingredients for the agri-food sector. The company offers a unique range on the market: rice syrups, oat syrups, wheat syrups, manioc syrups, spelt syrups, malted barley syrups, date syrup, fig syrup and prune syrup.
