Bimbo Canada, owner of Vachon Bakery, has announced that the bakery in Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce is increasing production. Currently, two lines have been tested and are now baking Passion Flakie and cookies. The bakery is also testing the Jos Louis and Ah Caramel! lines.
More than 300 associates from the bakery are back to work; however, all the activities that the bakery is engaged in to resume full operations are manual, so they need significantly more people to do this work. The company is assessing associate safety and well-being as well as food safety, environmental and quality assurance measures before full operations can resume.
“We must thank our associates and our management team at the bakery for their tireless efforts to get the bakery up and running again, and the community of Ste-Marie for its support. We must also thank our customers, our loyal consumers, numerous public safety municipal, provincial and federal partners, for their ongoing support,” said Marie-Ève Royer, vice president, national sales, Bimbo Canada.
For a limited time this summer, the baking plant is bringing Canadians snack cakes from other parts of North America to ensure the consumers have snack cakes without interruption. Beginning in June, consumers will be able to enjoy Marinela products from the bakery in Mexico called Pingüinos, Strawberry Submarinos and Gansito Jelly Cakes and Entenmann’s Chocolate Cupcakes, Mini Chocolate Chip Brownies, Mini Crumb Cakes and Mini Pound Cakes from the bakery in the U.S.
“We are committed to the community of Sainte-Marie and appreciate the skills of our more than 500 associates who work there. Our Red Cross fundraising efforts are ongoing. By matching associate donations, we have raised more than USD10,000 for the Red Cross. In addition, look for specially marked boxes of snack cakes box. For each box sold, Vachon will donate ¢50 to Canadian Red Cross Spring Flood Relief, up to a maximum of USD25,000, to help people impacted by the recent floods. We invite consumers to make a donation as well,” the representatives from Vachon Bakery explain in a press release.
