First Ever Confectionery Competition at the 20th Modern Bakery Moscow

With 243 exhibitors and 15,000 trade visitors, the Modern Bakery Moscow is the most important information and contact platform for the Russian bakery and confectionery industry. The show will take place at the Expocentre Fairgrounds in April 23-26.

Most expert visitors work in the field of industrial bakeries, cake and pastries manufacturing, raw materials and ingredients, as well as manufacturing of bakery equipment. Packaging, HoReCa, wholesale, logistics, media and education are represented within the show as well. The last exhibitor booths are available for booking.

On its 20th anniversary, the show will organise the first ever confectionary competition, with three categories: “Best Sugar Showpiece”, “Best Chocolate Showpiece” and “Best Young Confectioner/ Cakes Decoration”.

“For 2014, we have identified several trend topics for the Russian market. As for example, coffee and all involved with it. Furthermore, we will again cover the topics around chocolate and ice-cream. The figures speak for themselves and we expect sustainable growth in the areas of confectionery, coffee, chocolate and bakery in the coming years. The annual turnover for bread and bakery products was about EUR11 billion in 2012, representing an increase of 15.1 %”, said Sebastian Meyer, head of marketing & communications, OWP Ost-West-Partner GmbH, in an exlusive interview for World Bakers.

In Russia the consumption pattern is modifying. The out-of- home consumption of coffee, chocolate, ice-cream etc. is growing. The development that took place in the Western Europe is now coming to Russia.

One of the show’s premiers on its anniversary of the 20th edition is the first confectionery competition, with three categories: sugar, chocolate and cake creations. “We are delighted to be hosting this competition for the first time at our Modern Bakery Moscow. Visitors can look forward to an exciting and creative competition with impressive performances”, explains Bernd D. Fichtner, event manager of the fair.

The fair covers the entire spectrum of the sector: from systems and machines, laboratory and measurement devices, refrigeration technology and air-conditioning, packaging technology through baking ingredients, ready-made products, fast foods, ice-cream, pasta and pizza, right up to coffee shop design and shop fitting, distribution and sales as well as process optimisation.
