The winner of ISM Award 2017 is Gota Morinaga, representative director and chairman of Morinaga Co. Ltd. Japan. The award recognizes services in the sweets and snacks industry, according to Bastian Fassin, chairman of the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair Task Force (ASIM).
ISM’s international award was presented in Cologne, Germany, during a formal gala dinner on January 29, 2017. The prize was awarded for the fourth time.
The praise by Dr. Andreas Jacobs, executive chairman Barry Callebaut (2005 – 2016) placed the emphasis on the company logo and on the philosophy of the company and the family Morinaga. The angel motif, in connection with the slogan “Delicious, Fun, Healthy”, has been at the foundation for the company’s development since the end of the 19th century. “And I would add ‘responsible’ to that,” said Dr. Jacobs, accentuating the company’s social commitment.
Gota Morinaga stressed the significance of international trade also in times of great upheaval. He continued to say that, over the 20 years he has been attending ISM, he has regularly met up with his trading partners from all over the world in Cologne. This is an important factor that contributes towards the good and trusting cooperation that is imperative for him and his company, he added.
The jury of the ISM Award comprises international representatives from the industry, trade and science.
ISM’s organizers are Koelnmesse and its industry sponsor, the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (AISM) task force.
