The UK Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees Cancels 2020 Conference

British Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) has announced the cancelation of the 2020 conference in Staffordshire, June 19 – 21.

The ABST committee said it had high hopes that we would be able to avoid canceling the conference, but this was deemed impossible given the current circumstances. They ensured they are dedicated to following the government guidelines and understand that this would make the conference unsafe.

“Although you will be disappointed, we can say with confidence that we will be back with the best conference yet in 2021, and we hope to see you all there. For the graduating students of 2020, we would like to offer you to attend conference 2021 at the standard student price. Anyone who has paid membership for 2020 will be entitled to reach out to the ABST committee for support and you will receive half-price membership for 2021,” ABST announced.

The ABST announced on its website the Innovation Awards 2020 winners, who would have presented their products at the conference:

  • 1st Place – Megan Davidson, Sheffield
  • 2nd Place – Harvey Carroll, University College Birmingham
  • 3rd Place – Amelia Levick, Sheffield
  • Highly Commended – Katie Garrett, University College Birmingham

The 2021 conference will be held at Alton Towers Hotel on June 11-13.
