Dutch firm Goudsmit Magnetic Systems will launch the All-Metal-Catcher at Anuga Foodtec. The new catcher is a combination of a magnet with a metal detector in a single system.
This system makes it possible to remove both ferrous and non-ferrous particles from flows of materials in the foodstuffs industry: removing ferrous particles from 25 microns and non-ferrous particles from 0.6mm from powered (bulk) goods like for example coffee, cocoa, tea, powdered milk or sugar.
The magnet has a strong magnetic force of 12,000 Gauss and checks raw materials for iron at the start of production, or the end product just before it leaves the production hall.
Its low height makes it possible to incorporate the magnet in an existing production process. Magnetic pre-sorting means that considerably less product is lost than with detection alone. And 70 per cent of metal pollution is often caused by iron and can be removed by magnets. The metal detector fitted after the magnet ejects other metals without a great deal of loss of product.
The detectors are not susceptible to external influences such as moving metal parts, vibration, frequency controls, etc., and are self-monitoring.
