Roquette has expanded its plant protein portfolio with the launch of NUTRALYS Pea 850F, a new pea protein isolate positioned to improve sensory performance in plant-based and high-protein formulations. Announced from Lille on 23 February 2026, the ingredient is designed to address one of the longstanding challenges of pea protein: its characteristic vegetal off-notes. According to the company, the new isolate delivers a significantly cleaner and more neutral taste profile, while retaining the full nutritional benefits associated with pea protein.
The launch comes as global demand for protein-enriched products continues to rise, with manufacturers under pressure to match the taste of conventional dairy and meat products in plant-based alternatives. Pea protein has become a preferred choice among formulators due to its nutritional value, regional sourcing options and competitive cost, but taste-masking strategies have often been required – adding formulation complexity and potentially compromising clean label positioning.
Roquette says NUTRALYS Pea 850F tackles these taste issues at source, enabling products to be labelled simply as ‘pea protein’ or ‘pea protein isolate’ without additional masking systems. Functionally, the ingredient is said to offer comparable performance to the company’s NUTRALYS S85F benchmark, with high emulsion capacity, moderate gelling and viscosity, and good solubility. Target applications include dairy alternatives, ready-to-mix and ready-to-drink beverages, and specialised nutrition products, including high-protein concepts aimed at GLP-1 users.
The new isolate forms part of Roquette’s broader NUTRALYS range, which spans pea, wheat and fava bean proteins for use in plant-based, hybrid and high-protein food and beverage applications.
