Bakery and pastry, a symbol of French gastronomy by excellence, stands out as a dynamic sector in the latest market data released by La Fédération des Entreprises de Boulangerie/ Pâtisserie (FEB).
Export performance of bakery/pastry businesses has known significant increases since 2015.
With the baking/pastry sector booming globally, so have the exports increased by 25% since 2015 and almost 5% between 2019 and 2018 to reach EUR2.6bn in turnover.
Product innovations are created every day by companies. Bakeries and new coffee/store concepts are opening regularly around the world. In addition to this, consumers are increasingly fond of new flavors and quality products.
France benefits from numerous assets in the sector, know-how and a recognized quality of
products, a strong international image and a product presence across the world.
After having developed their presence in Europe, BVP companies are looking at new areas, focusing on North America and Asia, “Made in France” representing a major asset internationally.
Matthieu Labbé, FEB general delegate said, “This is good news for the sector. This is proof for our companies that they have the capacity to bounce back after this COVID-19 health crisis. We must work together to increase these market shares around the world. ”
In France, the sector represents a significant player, both in the number of jobs and in the turnover generated. The promotion of French products on international markets will secure businesses and their turnover and jobs on the national territory.
