A UK naan bread facility could close production leaving more than 100 jobs at risk.
Associated British Foods has said it may look to end production at one of its Patak’s Breads facility next year.
The company said on Monday (31 October) that it had started consulting with the 108 workers on its plans to cease manufacturing at its Cumbernauld bakery.
Patak’s Breads general manager Martin Brewis said: “Whilst we are still open to alternatives to ending manufacture, the potential closure of the site has been a very difficult decision and not one we make lightly. Whilst we are lucky to have an extremely committed team at Cumbernauld, the market is tough.”
Brewis added that the company will now focus on helping workers find alternative employment with ABF and externally in the local area.
