AB MAURI Renews Soya Sustainability Pledge

Since making an inaugural commitment to Soya UK and its growers in 2019, AB MAURI has been expanding its business and is now reassuring its soya customer base of their sustainability credentials, regardless of bean origin.

AB MAURI’s Managing Director, Andy Pollard commented: “We’ve always been committed to the core principles of sustainable development and are proud to be further supporting our multi-national soya growing partners. We are acutely aware of the sensitivities associated to certain environmental practices, such as deforestation, for example. It is therefore very pleasing to reassure our soya customer base of our sustainability credentials, regardless of bean origin.”

Sam Cook, marketing business partner, AB MAURI, also commented: “AB MAURI is perfectly placed to support our customers in complying with the current and future sustainability demands instigated by Grocery Retailers. We’re now working with a consistent, dual supply of UK and Canadian origin beans, which are anonymously contained within the supply chain and processed within our Royston site. This reiteration of our commitment to sustainability, further ensures that we’ll continue to work with Soya UK and their growers over the next few years.

Stephen Tutt, head of supply chain and procurement, AB MAURI UK & Ireland commented: “Both our UK and Canadian soya beans are certified as sustainable under the internationally recognized BM Trada Soya Certification scheme. Whilst the UK grown soya bean carries excellent environmental credentials, the fact that we are effectively dual sourcing, delivers the additional benefit of business continuity to our customer base.”

AB MAURI believes soya remains the best source of protein for multiple food groups such as sports nutrition, bakery, breakfast and snacking focused applications.

In addition to the core Bakery Market, AB MAURI is seeing significant growth in demand for their sustainable soya products, notably within the general grocery sector. According to the company, customers are increasingly looking for sources of natural protein, in conjunction with continuity of supply chain and sustainability.
