French provider of ingredients and processing aids for the wheat-flour-bread sector Eurogerm has announced that it has set up its 11th international subsidiary.
Its new unit based in Medellin (Colombia) will enhance the group’s growth opportunities in the country, which has 40 industrial bakeries and 30 flour mills.
The establishment of Eurogerm Colombia will extend its technical and commercial reach in Latin America, a region where it already has subsidiaries in Mexico, Peru and Brazil.
The subsidiary is run by Andrés Builes, a food engineering specialist who has worked with Eurogerm for several years. It will confer a logistical advantage on its customers in Colombia. It will also provide local technical assistance.
Benoît Huvet, Eurogerm’s chief operating officer, and Jean-Philippe Girard, its chairperson and chief executive officer, commented: “The opening of this new subsidiary represents a key milestone in the execution of our strategy of international expansion. Our presence in Colombia will help to raise our profile and establish a stronger foothold in the Andean and Caribbean regions. We also remain on the look-out for any international acquisition and development opportunities.”
“We are currently establishing a warehouse and sales office in the Medellin industrial area. It will also include a test bakery in order to provide customers with freshly baked new products and customize them according to specific requests. Technical assistance will also include the on-site adaptation of our improvers’ formulas to comply with clients’ recipes and bakery lines,” Eurogerm said exclusively for WorldBakers.
“This close attention paid to customers’ needs and physical proximity has been a key factor of success for EG for many years and we shall duplicate it in Colombia,” Eurogerm added.
