SIAL China 2014 – Right on Trend

SIAL China 2014 – Asia’s leading food and beverage exhibition – is an upcoming agenda-worthy event, offering a wealth of local Asian gourmet foods, alongside international ones, from 13th to 15th May at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

The show focuses on fast growing trends within the food and beverage industry, presenting them under one roof.

According to Mintel, sales of world foods in the UK have steadily increased over the last 5 years and are projected to continue growing to reach GBP 2.1 billion over 2013-18.  Chinese food is by far the most popular cuisine amongst British consumers with 77 percent eating it at home in the three months to October 2013, 15 percent of adults eating it at least weekly and 35 percent doing so at least fortnightly, according to Mintel World Cuisines Report, January 2014

Occupying 8 halls over 100,000 sqm of exhibition area, SIAL China is set to attract more than 45,000 visitors and 2,400 exhibitors from more than 90 countries.  This year’s show will again be combined with SIAL WINE WORLD – China’s premium & qualified wine platform – and Bakery China.

Highlights

China is the second biggest confectionery market in the world and as such sweets and snacks have become one of the highlights at SIAL China.  What’s more, this year’s exhibition will launch the third edition of “Chocolate World”, featuring both high-end industrialized chocolate corporations and handmade chocolate companies.

In addition, La Cuisine by SIAL will include cooking demonstrations by some of the most talented chefs from around the world. A meeting point and conference area to voice opinions, share ideas and gather information about some of the key topics in the food and beverage industries.  SIAL TV will also bring interviews with exhibitors, visitors and show reports.

SIAL Innovation

The SIAL Innovation competition showcases new products and highlights innovations within the food and beverage industry.  This year 48 products have been selected from 31 companies and 17 countries. Furthermore, in partnership with Socialwalk, the business meetings area provides the opportunity to have B2B meetings with major retailers & distributors in China.
