Cornish Pastry Company Closes Business

One of Cornwall’s largest employers has gone into administration with more than 100 job losses. Lucy Winterborne and Alistair Wardell of Grant Thornton UK LLP were appointed joint administrators of the company.

Crantock Bakery Limited has been baking Cornish pasties and other sweet and savory foods for almost 30 years, but it has now entered administration resulting in 109 employees being made redundant, according to itv.com.

Attempts have been made to sell the business in recent weeks but, despite the best efforts of management, cash has deteriorated rapidly leaving the directors with no choice, but to close the business. Ten employees have been retained to assist with the close down of the business and the sale of stock.
