Fernandes Invests USA15m to Modernize Plant in Suriname

The Fernandes Concern recently opened a modern bakery in Kernkampweg, Suriname.

The construction is worth USD15m, of which USD10m were financed by the Inter- American Development Bank.

The new building replaces the old bakery on the Verlengde Gemenelandsweg and the company has expanded its range with, among other things, sandwich and spelled bread.

The bakery group introduces frozen products on the Caribbean market. The company is active in Guyana, Barbados and Curaçao and is still working on the development in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago.
