IMCD Opens Expanded Life Science Laboratory Hub in Shanghai

IMCD Group has officially opened its newly expanded Life Science Laboratory hub in Shanghai, strengthening its innovation and technical capabilities across pharmaceuticals, food and nutrition, and beauty and personal care applications in China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The enhanced facility consolidates IMCD’s sector-specific laboratories under one roof, enabling greater cross-industry collaboration and accelerating formulation development. Located within the East China University of Science & Technology, the hub also fosters academic partnerships and supports talent development.

Key Highlights of the Shanghai Hub:

• Food & Nutrition Lab: Supports bakery, dairy and savoury applications, offering hands-on product development, formulation kits, technical training, and on-site customer support.
• Pharmaceutical Lab: Serves North Asia with services including formulation development, reverse-engineering, and rheological testing across solid, liquid and semi-solid dosage forms.
• Beauty & Personal Care Lab: Provides formulation and efficacy testing across skincare, sun care, hair care and colour cosmetics. Features a Beauty Studio for prototype development and a working hair salon for real-use trials.

The Shanghai facility is part of IMCD’s global network of 80+ technical centres, which play a pivotal role in enabling innovation through supplier and customer collaboration.
