Lantmännen Unibake Invests in New Bread Production Facility in Örebro

Lantmännen Unibake Sweden, the company behind the Korvbrödsbagarn brand, has announced a strategic investment of SEK 700 million (approx. EUR61m) to build a new bread production facility in Örebro. The move is aimed at significantly expanding capacity and strengthening its position in the growing market for hotdog and burger buns.

The 13,000-square-metre facility will be constructed within the existing site and is scheduled to begin operations in 2027. Construction is set to start in autumn 2025.

“This new facility allows us to meet growing customer demand while reinforcing our commitment to Swedish food production,” said Jonas Lindell, Managing Director of Lantmännen Unibake Sweden. “It’s a long-term investment in product quality, innovation, and regional reliability.”

Lantmännen Unibake has operated in Örebro since 1963. The current site is one of Europe’s largest specialty bun bakeries, producing over two million units daily. The expansion builds on recent infrastructure investments, including a central warehouse inaugurated in 2023.

The new facility will incorporate sustainability features such as solar panels and upgraded technology to support the company’s climate goals. “These enhancements reflect our continued focus on responsible growth and improved environmental performance,” Lindell added.

The investment underscores Lantmännen’s long-term vision for maintaining leadership in the European bread segment.
