DSM to showcase nutritional solutions range at FiSA 2014

DSM will present its latest innovations at this year’s Food Ingredients South America (FiSA), with a selection of product prototypes to be tested.

DSM experts will be available at stand D30 to discuss the company’s nutritional lipids offering and the advantages omega-3s can bring, including heart, cognitive and eye health benefits. DSM’s portfolio includes nutritional lipids derived from fish oil, including MEG-3®, a source of EPA/DHA omega-3 without the fishy taste or smell, and life’sDHA™. This source of DHA omega-3 is derived from algae and provides important health benefits throughout life for people of all ages, as well as offering a commercially viable and efficient alternative for vegetarian applications.

Visitors to the stand will be able to sample life’sDHA capsules, as well as rich chocolate milk infused with life’sDHA to create an indulgent, yet healthy treat.

Also on stand is DSM’s OatWell® oat beta-glucan, a naturally-derived ingredient, a soluble fiber found in oats that helps to maintain healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels, both key pillars of cardiovascular function. OatWell can be used in many applications, ranging from breads, biscuits and cereals to pasta, beverages, instant powder drinks and dietary supplements. Pure OatWell, vanilla-flavored sachets and bakery products made with OatWell will be on stand to taste.

Ana-Luisa Aguiar, Head of Marketing, Latin America, Human Nutrition & Health at DSM, commented: “We are delighted to be exhibiting at FiSA. Latin America is one of the fastest growing markets in the food and ingredients industry and we are proud to showcase our range of nutritional solutions at this flagship show. We’re here to demonstrate how our nutritional solutions, alongside our scientific and regulatory expertise, application support and market insights, can help manufacturers to stand out in this extremely competitive market.”

Fortitech® Premixes by DSM will be presented at the show. These customized blends combine a range of functional ingredients, such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, nucleotides, nutraceuticals and herbs, in one single premix. This technology allows manufacturers to boost the nutritional profile of a wide variety of dietary supplements, foods and beverages without altering the taste, texture, colour or mouth feel. A variety of prototypes incorporating these premixes will be available to sample, including fortified gummies, cookies, cheese and a range of cocktails.

Also this year, DSM is to host a gastronomic experience with creative chefs on-stand to cook up a culinary delight from 17.30 to 19.30 every day. Guests can try mouth-watering risottos, juices and vitamin-popsicles and see how fortification adds value and consumer health benefits, without affecting taste, odour or colour.
