iba Announces iba.START UP AREA Supported by Puratos

iba, the world’s leading trade fair for the baking and confectionery industry, returns to the Fairground Munich between 22 and 26 October 2023. In addition to a large number of competitions and action areas, iba has another highlight in store for the baking industry: the iba.START UP AREA supported by Puratos.

In hall A4, the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs will show how they are revolutionizing the bakery landscape. Renowned experts complement the programme with keynote speeches on topics that are moving the trade.

“National and international startups from the entire baking trade get their own stage with the iba.START UP AREA,” said Michael Wippler, President of the German Bakers’ Confederation. “We are very keen to promote young talent and offer them the appropriate space for presentation, exchange and new ideas.”

The new iba.START UP AREA in hall A4 will be designed with Puratos – the leading ingredient supplier for the bakery, patisserie and chocolate trade – both visually and in terms of content. “Our partnership with iba reflects Puratos’ commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and creating a platform for promising startups to showcase their solutions,” said Sophie Blum, CMO at Puratos. “By supporting these startups we are not only interested in their success, but also in the long-term success and sustainability of our industry.”

The iba.START UP AREA is not a traditional exhibition stand, but a modern, open space – an attractive communal area for networking and lingering. In addition to the startups’ stands, the iba.START UP AREA supported by Puratos is also a hub for knowledge and inspiration. The pitches by the exhibiting startups, keynote speeches and presentations by renowned experts will take place on a stage. Here, forward thinkers discuss issues that are driving the industry. These range from ground-breaking technologies to food trends, always with reference to the iba.TOPICS: food trends, artisan bakery, health and sustainability as well as digitalisation, turnkey solutions and quality management.

Startups from the food sector, both nationally and internationally, are invited to participate. The following conditions apply: The exhibiting company is less than 10 years old. The company employs fewer than 50 people. The annual balance sheet total or annual turnover does not exceed 10 million euros. In addition, the companies must have newly developed or significantly improved products, processes and services. Companies with their headquarters and business operations in Germany can also receive financial assistance for participation in the iba.START UP AREA: the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) supports young companies so that they can present themselves at international trade fairs like iba.
