Ibatech Review – What’s Baking in Turkey

Ibatech, the trade fair for the baking industry on the Bosporus, has outdone its past editions, with almost 64,000 visitors this April 10-13, about 7,000 more than previously recorded.

Professional visitors used the baking sector’s meeting place in Turkey for the 7th time this year, for information on new products and industry trends, and to exchange ideas with colleagues and experts. The trade fair on the Bosporus continued to grow: 45,000 sqm hosted the show throughout four halls, up from around 35,000 sqm, which was the gross exhibition area in 2012.

In addition, Ibatech had its widest ever international reach, with visitors from 88 countries present, up from 66 countries that were represented in 2012, which included (besides Turkey) the neighbouring countries of Bulgaria and Iran, as well as Azerbaijan, Greece,

Germany, Iraq, Romania, Egypt, Albania and Cyprus – and entitles Ibatech to be ranked among the leading trade fairs of this kind in Eastern Europe and the Near East.

The development of the show also translated into more exhibitors, as 289 were recorded, including many international market leaders, who presented their latest technologies and products for the bakery, patisserie, ice cream and chocolate industry. Among the international exhibitors with German roots were, for example, Martin Braun, Fritsch, Hobart, Ireks, Wachtel, Wiesheu and Wolf ButterBack.

“Ibatech 2014 has made a great leap in comparison with the previous events and has been able to further expand and consolidate its position as the leading trade fair in Turkey and the neighbouring states. A great number of market leaders and important companies from the sector were welcomed as exhibitors at this trade fair. In addition, the visitor numbers have shown a further positive development — with regard to both quantity and quality,” said Hakan Gençoğlu, managing director at Messe Stuttgart ARES Fuarcılık.

The next Ibatech will be held in Istanbul from 7 to 10 April 2016, and the regional offshoot in Ankara will be held from 5 to 8 March 2015.
