Part of Worldbakers’ IBIE SPECIAL EDITION 2022, we interview important exhibitors about what they bring to IBIE, so readers know what to expect at the Baking Expo that takes place between September 18-21, 2022, in Las Vegas. Today we interview Marko Leber, Global Product Manager, Food, IPCO.
What can visitors expect to find at your booth at this edition of IBIE and what is your current focus for the US market?
Marko Leber: Our focus will be on bake oven upgrades; a new laser cleaning service; and chocolate forming systems.
We’ve been supplying solid and perforated steel bake oven belts for almost a century and this gives us unparalleled experience in how the components of a bake oven conveyor work together. Today we have an extensive range of conveyor components and will be showing some of these and highlighting how we work with OEMs and end users to deliver system upgrades that maximize productivity and deliver a premium quality end product.
This focus on productivity enhancement has led to the development of our new laser-based belt cleaning service. Traditional belt cleaning methods are dirty, costly and time-consuming. Using industrial laser technology, we can cut belt cleaning times in half and allow adjacent lines to remain in operation during the cleaning process.
On the chocolate side of the business, we’ll be demonstrating a fully operational Rotoform forming system and will also have details of our latest triple pass line for chip, wafer and chunk production.
Please reflect on the challenges the industry faces and the trends that are impacting demand and product development.
Marko Leber: The current economic climate means that bakeries the world over are having to look at how to increase their market competitiveness. It’s not enough to stand still – there’s a constant need to maintain margins through either product quality and innovation or overall productivity, ideally both.
If an oven is failing to operate at its full potential or product quality is less than perfect, this equates to lost profit. That’s why we’re seeing significant growth in our service consultancy business.
