Stand-alone Bread & Bakery Anuga in the Spotlight

Anuga Bread & Bakery premiers at the 34th edition of Anuga in a stand-alone hall, part of the fair’s trademark set of 10 shows. Starting this year, bakery products and hot beverages each get their own hall in Cologne, Germany, October 7-11.

Throughout Europe, a trend in bread and bakery products is the increasing variety of international specialties in domestic food markets, as crossover bakery products are also gaining in popularity, according to Anuga’s organizers.

At the previous edition in 2015, 432 companies from 45 countries exhibited at Anuga Bread, Bakery and Hot Beverages. More than 61,000 visitors of this stand were from the retail and out-of-home market, 76% of which were decision makers.

India is the partner country in 2017

India is the partner country of Anuga 2017 and Indian suppliers will not only present the wide variety of Indian food and beverages, but will demonstrate their competence and efficiency in the international trade and food service sectors. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) is responsible for India’s partner country activities at the leading trade fair. The Ministry will participate with a delegation at the opening ceremony of Anuga on October 7.

Around 7,200 exhibitors from 100 countries as well as 160,000 trade visitors from all over the world are expected to attend the 34th Anuga this year. Anuga is the world’s biggest and most important business platform for the international food industry.

Seven French Stands

Nearly 200 French companies will be showcasing their latest products and know-how across seven French stands at this year’s Anuga Food Fair.
Working with eight French regions and two inter-professional unions, the French stands will bring together representatives exhibiting in every sector represented at the Anuga Food Fair. This highlights the diversity of French product offerings.

French products will be promoted at cooking workshops led by chef Charles Soussin, set to take place for the duration of the fair in Hall 10.2.  These workshops will highlight some of France’s regional specialties and allow international buyers to taste French recipes.

In 2016, France was the third largest supplier of food products to the UK with a 9.3% share of the market. In the past five years, exports of French gourmet products have increased by 36.8%. This is a sector in which France excels, with bakery products and pastries being notable segments, since they account for 27% of agrifood exports. Strong growth has also been recorded for biscuits and frozen pastries, according to the organizers of the fair.

The French stands can be found in the following halls: bakery wares and pastries:  2.2; frozen products:  4.2; fresh products:  5.1; gourmet products: 10.2; dairy products:  10.1.

Organic products

Anuga will also host a concentrated spectrum of organic products, as one of its 10 trade shows focuses exclusively on this. Products exhibited at Anuga Organic carry an approved organic certification that is a standard on the market. The list of companies that present their products here has grown constantly over the course of the past years. In 2013 there were 1,796 companies who presented organic products, while in 2015 their number had reached to 2,030 specialty exhibitors.
