Heidelberg Group is advancing automation across its bakery operations with the installation of high-performance slicing and bagging systems from Bradman Lake.
The company’s first order in 2020 included two LB90 reciprocating slicers and two IBPRO bread baggers, designed to streamline the packaging of tinned and free-bake bread. A follow-up order in early 2025 expanded capacity with a standalone LB90 slicer, equipped with a powered outfeed deck, alongside a hand-fed IBPRO bun bagger to add flexibility in handling excess production.
Bradman Lake’s LB90 slicer uses a reciprocating blade system that ensures precise, efficient slicing with minimal crumb loss. The machines are synchronised with baggers to deliver consistent feed rates and optimal line performance. Their modular design allows bakeries to adjust slice thickness and also bag whole loaves when required.
The IBPRO bread bagger, regarded as one of the world’s most advanced systems, combines high-speed throughput with low downtime. Featuring ergonomic controls and a dynamic inline system, it enables smooth product transitions, accurate bagging of varied loaf sizes, and continuous operation. With a three-tray wicket changer for automatic bag replenishment, the IBPRO is engineered for 24/7 reliability in large-scale bakeries.
The second investment enhances compatibility across Heidelberg’s production lines. The standalone LB90 slicer integrates with the existing IBPRO baggers, while the new bun bagger provides a practical, hand-fed option for smaller runs and surplus output.
By adopting Bradman Lake’s modular slicing and bagging technology, Heidelberg Group is aiming to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen flexibility in its bread and bun packaging operations.
