Bakedin, a manufacturer of baking kits and mixes, announced it was on track to become a climate positive company as part of its new partnership with Ecologi, the environmental conservation organization. With one tree planted for every order placed, the subscription baking business is on track to become carbon negative in 2021. In the first month alone, Bakedin has already planted 18,000 trees across Ecologi’s global reforestation projects, which supports Gold Standard climate solutions for businesses and consumers.
The collaboration sees Bakedin lead a commitment from the food and drink manufacturing community to support a greener, more sustainable future. In addition to the trees planted for every order, Bakedin has signed up to offset each employee’s personal carbon footprint by funding climate change solutions.
Joe Munns, CEO and founder at Bakedin says, “We’re a business that was established with the aim of eliminating food waste, so sustainability has always been core to Bakedin’s ethos. Teaming up with Ecologi was a no-brainer to further our environmental objectives. The partnership means that we can bring our customers on the journey to minimize our carbon footprint and make a positive contribution to essential climate projects.”
The Ecologi partnership builds on Bakedin’s existing environmental commitments, which includes recyclable packaging, an electric vehicle employee program and sustainable supply chain.
“Like so many businesses, we have a long way to go – carbon negative is very much the immediate goal for 2021,” Munns adds. “Working with Ecologi means we can continue to bring people happiness in their Bakedin boxes while also minimizing our impact on the environment.”
