What can you innovate in an industry built around a basic foodstuff that has been around for thousand of years? Everything! As I closely monitored the industry this year, I have seen so many amazing, innovative products: chocolate pizza, single-serving veggie snacks, bread developed for/with athletes, (drone-delivered) cronuts – paid in bitcoin, creative premium biscuits, and the list can go on.
But innovation is not only about products, it is also about technology, about new ways of approaching traditional processes (for example, acrylamide reduction or trans-fats reduction). Innovation is when you are producing a similar taste for cereal bars, but without cereals. You can call it innovation when you find new ways of packaging to keep the freshness of traditional products that you can find on consumer’s list.
All product and/or solution and service providers want to be either on supermarket shelves, or also part of the specialty shows, at the top of the podium awarding innovation.
What’s next for the year to come? “All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them”, said Walt Disney.
We wish you to pursue your dreams in the next year and we ensure you that worldbakers.com, European Baker, Asia Pacific Baker, Biscuit World and World Bakers Digital will write about them in 2016.
May you have peace, joy and prosperity throughout the coming year! Happy holidays!
