Prestigious industry award to be presented for the sixth time at INTERNORGA 2016

The INTERNORGA Future Award will be presented for the sixth time in 2016, entries and recommendations can be submitted now on the trade fair’s website.

The Future Award at INTERNORGA 2015 attracted a record 120 entries. The prize is presented in a total of four categories and has established itself as one of the most prestigious honours in the various sectors of the restaurant and food service market. The Trendsetter Company – Artisan category was successfully launched in 2015 and will be here again in 2016 to honour artisan companies that combine tradition with innovation.

Four award categories

The INTERNORGA Future Award is presented in four categories. The Trendsetter Company – Artisan category has been included since 2015, honouring craft companies such as butchers or bakers that combine traditional production methods with innovative technologies and sustainable management.
The Trendsetter Company – HORECA category is aimed at companies from the hotel, restaurant and catering and institutional catering sector. They are to show how business activities and sustainable management can be combined, for example by organic sourcing, by resource and energy efficiency, and by fair trading.

All INTERNORGA exhibitors are eligible to enter the categories Trendsetter Product – Food & Beverages and Trendsetter Product – Fittings & Equipment – the former is for innovative food and beverages characterised by biological value of raw materials, high quality or fair production conditions. Trendsetter Product – Fittings & Equipment is for smart solutions which are long-lived and efficient in operation and in their use of energy and materials. This category also includes technical innovations which optimise working processes, setting new standards.

Entries and recommendations

Companies and institutions can submit entries or recommendations for the Award up to the deadline 15 January 2016. The entry documents and information on the assessment procedure are available at http://internorga.com/en/future-award/. Entries are open to INTERNORGA exhibitors (Trendsetter Product category) and visitors (Trendsetter Company). Three finalists are selected by an independent panel of judges. The winners of the individual categories will receive the prestigious honor in March 2016, at the official gala evening held the day before the start of INTERNORGA.

The winners in 2015 were AICHINGER GmbH (Trendsetter Product – Fittings & Equipment), Ludwig Stocker Hofpfisterei GmbH (Trendsetter Company – Artisan), the Regional Network LWL-Kliniken Münster / Lengerich (Trendsetter Company – HORECA) and Agora America GmbH – Solpuro Guacamole (Trendsetter Product – Food & Beverages).

The judges

The winners of the INTERNORGA Future Award are decided by the panel of judges, which comprises representatives of academia, business and civil society. It is chaired by Dr. J. Daniel Dahm, a recognised international expert on sustainable development, a member of the Advisory Board of the Federation of German Scientists (VDW) and Executive Director of the Ethical/Ecological Rating Committee of the GoetheUniversity. The other judges are Dipl. Ing. Carl-Otto Gensch, an expert in sustainability assessments for technologies and corporate strategies at the Eco-Institute in Freiburg; Rainer Roehl, an expert in Organic certification for institutional kitchens and restaurants; Hanni Rützler, a leading trend researcher; and Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.

2016 is a very special year – INTERNORGA celebrates its 90th anniversary.

Newcomers’ Area

The Newcomers’ Area at INTERNORGA is an absolute highlight at the trade fair, with lots of innovative ideas and concepts. This is where many successful products in the food service and catering sector were first introduced to the public. The Newcomers’ Area is in great demand, and will be expanded for INTERNORGA 2016, with about 25 per cent more space. A total of more than 20 companies will be there, presenting their innovative products and checking whether their ideas and concepts get across to the target group.

The range of exhibits each year includes new food and beverage innovations, services, and revamped forms of familiar classics. Previous exhibits have included a lemonade that tastes of coffee, a beer tap system that fills the glass from the bottom, an organic ice-cream system in a completely compostable pack with flower seeds included, vegan drinks, dried fruit and vegetables that soften up in a bain-marie, and a special children’s menu box for restaurants – all of these have featured at previous INTERNORGA events and were first presented to the public here. The tension is mounting – what will be on show in the Newcomers’ Area in 2016?

Companies are allowed to present a maximum of twice in the Newcomers’ Area.

The INTERNORGA Newcomers’ Area 2016 is now open for applications at www.internorga.com
