Easter is once again an occasion for bakers to outdo themselves and bring their most creative treats to cabinet displays and store shelves. We took a close look at the bakery sector, and we made a selection of the most interesting baked goods that were introduced this season. Furthermore, many manufacturers announced promotions and offerings dedicated to this holiday.
- KRISPY KREME Announced Seasonally Inspired Donuts
It might seem unusual to eat donuts around Easter time, but Krispy Kreme is hopping into spring with a seasonal collection.
Available for a limited time, Krispy Kreme shops across the U.S. presents a collection that includes:
– Bunny Donut: Inspired by a spring favorite, this Chocolate Kreme™ filled donut is dipped in icing and shaped like a bunny with chocolate and pink icing, and sugar ears.
– Chick Donut: Filled with Krispy Kreme’s cake batter, this donut is dipped in yellow icing and hand-decorated like a little chick.
– Decorated Egg Donut: An interpretation of an Easter egg is filled with Krispy Kreme’s classic White Kreme™, dipped in a fruity flavored strawberry icing and finished with a hand-decorated egg design.
2. Aldi Presents Bunny Crumpets
Produced by Village Bakery, the Bunny Crumpets are available in Aldi Supermarkets in the UK. “Who doesn’t love a hot, buttery crumpet? All the better with some novelty bunny-shaped crumpets to enjoy with your little ones this Easter,” Aldi wrote the in the description on their website.
3. Waitrose Bets on Buns
The UK supermarket has prepared a wide range of products dedicated to Easter. “Welcome to a place that’s toasty and comforting. It’s a place filled with traditional, richly fruited favorites, with contemporary flavors like Waitrose 1 Elderflower, Lemon & Lovage – and with innovation, such as gluten-free hot cross buns and Heston’s simnel-inspired creations,” Waitrose writes.
Its offer includes cross buns with fruits and even a gluten-free assortment is available.
4. Asda Launches Easter Chocolate Dough Ball Pizza
British supermarket Asda is set to make the dreams of chocolate lovers come true with the launch of an Easter Chocolate Dough Ball Pizza.
The new product consists of chocolatey dough filled with white and milk chocolate chunks, topped with Easter Egg sprinkles, a sweet chocolate sauce, chocolate curls, and mini marshmallows. It is ready to be eaten after five minutes in the oven.
Asda’s Easter Chocolate Dough Ball Pizza is available now in Asda stores and on its website.
5. The Hummingbird Bakery Offers Easter-themed Cakes
The Hummingbird Bakery, which landed in Notting Hill in early 2004 to promote American baking in London, announced a wide range of cakes for this season.
“If you’re looking for seasonal delights from your favorite bakery without waiting for Easter weekend to arrive, our Easter cake collection is here!” the bakery wrote. Delivery and free collection are available from April 5 to April 22. The products have been available in any of their six London bakeries in Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Richmond, Notting Hill, and South Kensington.
6. Peeps and Kellogg’s Launches Kellogg’s Peeps Marshmallow-flavored Cereal
Peeps and Kellogg’s have teamed up to create Kellogg’s Peeps marshmallow-flavored cereal. “Easter may be a few months away, but a new offering featuring the holiday’s most iconic candy is here to start your mornings in the sweetest way. Kellogg’s has released a limited-edition Peeps Cereal, which means that marshmallow-infused milk is about to become a regular part of your breakfast routine,” the two companies announced.
The cereal is lightly sweetened and features marshmallow-flavored cereal crisps made with whole grains as well as marshmallow pieces. The cereal is available for a limited time in the US.
7. Popcornopolis Easter-themed Gifts
The family-owned and operated popcorn company Popcornopolis launched its gourmet Easter treats. The newly designed Easter-themed gift baskets, festive tins Carrot-shaped Mini Cones filled with classic flavors and kid-approved recipes like classic Caramel Corn, sweet and fruity Unicorn Popcorn, and of course, their most-loved Zebra Popcorn.
