A naan bread measuring six meters in diameter was unveiled in Ili Kazakh, China on August 19, 2014. According to local press reports, the ingredient list for this bead included 860 kilograms of flour and 60 kilograms of oil, and it was baked for ten hours in a specially constructed pit.
The largest naan bread registered in the Guinness World Records book weighed 9.5 kg (20 lb 15 oz) and was made by Loblaw Companies Limited (Canada) in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, on July 5, 2008. The naan bread measured 2.89 m (9 ft 6 in) by 1 m (3 ft 4 in).
A team of firefighters in Hampshire, UK, has also recently attempted to break the world record, officially, as footage of the naan bread made in Eastleigh Mela has been sent to Guinness for verification, the BBC reports. The bread made in July by the firefighters with the help of Badi Mirchi and Sanjha restaurants weighed 26kg (57lb 5oz) and measured 3.79m (12ft 5in) by 1.4m (4ft 7in).
The 2008 world record still holds on the Guinness World Records’ website currently, but records change on a daily basis and are not immediately published online, Guinness states.
